E-Bikes
Our e-bikes are perfect for covering longer distances or tackling steeper sections without breaking a sweat. They’re simple to use and ideal for riders of all experience levels who want a more relaxed ride. E-bikes are a popular choice for those riding from coast to coast.

Hardtail Bikes
A solid option for riders who enjoy a more traditional cycling experience. Our hardtail mountain bikes are lightweight, durable, and well-suited to the gravel and compacted limestone surfaces of the trail. Perfect for shorter rides or anyone who prefers to pedal without extra help.

Full Suspension
If you’re looking to take on the more technical parts of the trail or want a bit more comfort and control on longer or rougher rides, our full suspension mountain bikes are a great option. These bikes provide extra shock absorption and handling, especially useful on uneven terrain.

What’s Included
Our quality mountain bikes come complete with specialised gel seats for your comfort and have a kickstand & bottle holder. Every bike hire comes with the gear you need to enjoy a comfortable and safe ride on the Twin Coast Cycle Trail, including:
- Helmet
- Trail map
- Bottle holder
- Bike lock
- Kick stand
- Basic repair kit (on request)
- Pre-ride setup and briefing
- Optional carrier racks and panniers for carrying light gear – $5 each
- Optional toddler carrier seat (for a child aged between 2 to 4 years) – $25 each
- Kids bikes $25 – sorry, we don’t provide e-bikes for children
We make sure each bike is properly fitted before you set off and provide tips for making the most of your ride. If you run into any issues on the trail, we’re just a phone call away.
Pickup & Drop-off Options
You can start your ride from either Opua or Kaikohe, depending on which direction you’d like to go. We offer flexible pickup and drop-off options to help you make the most of your time on the trail.

- Luggage transfers can be arranged with prior notice
Whether you’re riding a short section or going coast to coast, we’ll help plan the logistics so you can enjoy the trail without the hassle.
Please note that our bike trailers are suitable for bikes without a front guard. Please let us know if you’re bringing your own bike with a front guard.
Bay of Islands Vintage Railway Tranfers
If ypu are cycling east from the Ōpua Marina end of the Twin Coast Cycle way to Kaikohe you will need to use the Bay Of Islands Vintage Railway for the connection between the Whangae Tunnel platform and Taumarere Station. This 30-minute scenic train journey along the Waikare estuary is a beautiful experience and a welcome break from peddling.

Planning Support
The easiest way to ride the trail is to start from our Kaikohe base. Kaikohe is the midpoint of the Twin Coast Cycle Trail, as well as being at highest point of trail above sea level, meaning your journey will be easier travelling downhill.
It is best to leave in the morning around 9am to ride the trail to either Opua in the Bay of Islands, being at one end of the trail, or to Horeke in the Hokianga Habour, being at the other end of the trail. Either route will take around 4.5 hours plus stops.
Our Shuttle Services can either drop you off in the morning or pick you up in the afternoon. This service can be done in either direction to suit your needs.
Try a Mini Ride – No Shuttle Needed
Start from Kaikohe and ride through a pretty stretch of countryside along the Twin Coast Cycle Trail to Okaihau. Have lunch at the local Okaihau cafés and once you’re refreshed, ride the return trip back to Kaikohe.
