Kaikohe’s attractions

Whether you are drawn to Māori culture, our heritage, natural wonders, the twin coast cycle trail or golf course, we welcome you to Kaikohe

Hot springs, museums packed with Maori taonga and a demolition derby immortalised on film — there’s plenty to love about Kaikohe.

The pioneer village is a collection of 11 historic buildings dating from 1862 Whare Runanga Commission, railway train, steam engines, Fire engines, and Maori Taonga in collection.

The Northland Firehouse Museum, which has New Zealand’s largest collection of firefighting memorabilia ,has secured its future.

Whether you are drawn to Māori culture and stories about our heritage and people, natural wonders or the beautiful cycle trail or golf course, we welcome you to Kaikohe and hope you find something special here.
